Peace talks with Russia/Macron: Europe is ready to offer security guarantees for Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron said today that Europe is prepared to offer security guarantees to Ukraine once a peace agreement with Russia is reached.

Macron made the comments during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Elysee Palace. Zelensky arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening to participate in a virtual meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing."

At a joint press conference, Macron said that Europe's preparations were complete and that it is ready to offer security guarantees to Ukraine and its people on the day a peace agreement is reached between Russia and Ukraine.

Thursday's summit, which will be co-chaired by Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, will focus on security guarantees for Ukraine.

European leaders attending the event will hold a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump during the meeting./CNA
