Appeals Court declares tariffs illegal/Trump petitions Supreme Court

US President Donald Trump has asked the US Supreme Court to overturn the decision of the Court of Appeals, which ruled that the tariffs imposed were illegal.

In a petition to the Supreme Court, the administration asked the judges to intervene to rule that the president has the power to impose import taxes on foreign countries.

The US Court of Appeals last week ruled 7-4 that the tariffs imposed by Trump are within the jurisdiction of Congress.

In a post made a few days ago, Trump said that the tariffs are to help American manufacturers and farmers, and that previously tariffs imposed by other countries were allowed to be used against the US by irresponsible politicians, indirectly referring to Biden.

"All tariffs are still in effect!

Today, an Appeals Court wrongly said that our tariffs should be lifted, but they know that the United States of America will win in the end.

If these Tariffs were ever lifted, it would be a total disaster for the country. It would make us financially weak and we need to be strong. The United States will no longer tolerate large trade deficits and unfair tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers imposed by other countries, friend or foe, that hurt producers, farmers and everyone else.

If left in place, this decision will destroy the United States of America. As we head into this weekend, we should all remember that tariffs are the best tool to help our workers and support companies that produce great products made in America.

For many years, tariffs were allowed to be used against us by our careless and reckless politicians.

"With the help of the Supreme Court of the United States, we will use them to the benefit of our nation and make America rich, strong and powerful again! Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump wrote on Truth./ CNA
