A Republican-led United States House of Representatives committee released tens of thousands of pages from its investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The 33,295 pages, which are part of a first batch of documents related to Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, were published by the House Oversight Committee on its website after being submitted by the Justice Department.

 "We are in the process of uploading these documents for full transparency, so that everyone in America can see those documents. There have been growing bipartisan calls for more transparency in this infamous case," Republican Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told the media.

What do Epstein's pages contain?

Epstein, a wealthy financier with powerful connections, was accused of running a sex trafficking ring that exploited underage girls for a number of prominent clients.

He was found dead in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial, in what authorities ruled a suicide.

US Representative Robert Garcia stated that 97% of the documents had already been made public.

 "There is no mention of any client lists or anything that improves transparency or justice for victims ," ??Garcia said in a statement.

"The stories were horrific and upsetting. In the coming days and weeks we will hear more from these victims," ??he wrote on X.

According to Reuters news agency, the materials released on Tuesday contained at least eight videos containing police interviews with the victims. Many of the interviews date back to 2005 and 2006./ CNA
