Russia launches over 500 drones and missiles towards Ukraine

Russia launched a barrage of more than 500 drones and missiles into several regions in Ukraine on Wednesday, targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, authorities said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky added that dozens of residential buildings were damaged in various regions, accusing Russia of targeting urban neighborhoods and civilians.

"These are clearly Russian demonstrative attacks. Putin is showing his impunity. And this undoubtedly requires a response from the world. Only due to the lack of sufficient pressure, primarily on Russia's war economy, does this aggression continue," Zelensky warned.

Moscow's escalation of attacks on Ukraine comes as European leaders continue efforts to bolster Kiev's defenses, adding momentum to the so-far unsuccessful US-led peace efforts. /CNA
