During a press conference in Brussels, EU Chief Diplomat Kaja Kallas commented on the meeting between the leaders of Russia, Iran and China in Beijing.

Kallas stated that this meeting is a direct challenge to the international system and that China is supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine.

For Kallas, these are deliberate attempts to change the international order and that a new anti-Western order is being created.

"Seeing President Xi standing alongside the leaders of Russia, Iran and North Korea in Beijing today, these are not just anti-Western optics, but a direct challenge to the rules-based international system. It is not just symbolic. Russia's war in Ukraine is being supported by China. These are realities that Europe must confront now.

We are experiencing deliberate attempts to change the international order.

China and Russia also talk about jointly leading changes unseen in 100 years and revising the global security order. A new global order is in the making.

"It will not be shaped without Europe, but it will be shaped by what Europe is willing to do, if we are willing to accept the need for Europe to play a geopolitical role ," Kallas told reporters./ CNA
