Today, the body of Pope Francis will be placed in the Vatican Basilica.
Today's service will take place before the procession that will transport the body of Pope Francis from his residence at Casa Santa Marta to St. Peter's Basilica. The procession will be presided over by the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell will lead a prayer before the body is moved.
"Dear brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow, we now accompany the mortal remains of Pope Francis to the Vatican Basilica," he will say at the beginning of the service.
People have been gathering near St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican since the early hours of the morning.
