The constitution of the Kosovo Assembly fails for the fourth time

The constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has failed for the fourth time. This is because the party that received the most votes in the February 9 parliamentary elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement, requested additional time to reach a political agreement, insisting that the name proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement for the position of Speaker of the Assembly remain unchanged.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Avni Dehari, following the statement of the Vetëvendosje Movement MP, Glauk Konjufca, said that the new session will take place on Wednesday at 10:00.

In the third attempt at the constitutive session, on Saturday, the report of the Temporary Committee for the verification of the quorum and mandates of the deputies was approved and the deputies were sworn in, as reported by the media in Kosovo.

In Saturday's session, on the third item on the agenda, on behalf of the Vetëvendosje Movement, as the entity with the largest number of deputies in the Assembly, MP Glauk Konjufca proposed MP Albulena Haxhiu for Speaker of the Assembly.

In two voting procedures, 57 deputies voted for the presented candidacy, while Speaker Dehari determined that the proposal did not pass and in these circumstances announced the interruption of the April 19 session, announcing its continuation for today. /CNA
