Criminal drug gang dismantled in Attica, 4 arrested

Greek police have dismantled a criminal organization that was involved in the trafficking of significant quantities of cannabis in the wider Attica region. Four people were arrested during the operation, while more than 15 kilograms of cannabis and 51,490 euros in cash were seized.

The arrested are two foreign nationals, aged 55 and 30, as well as two Greek nationals, aged 22 and 30, caught in different areas of Attica. According to the police (ELAS) statement, the 30-year-old foreigner was the deputy head of the organization and co-responsible for drug storage, while the 22-year-old Greek resisted arrest by attacking the officers.

Investigations, based on intelligence information and coordinated police actions, revealed that the group had created a structured organization with clear roles and hierarchy, with the aim of drug trafficking and large illegal profits.

According to the police, raw cannabis was sold for 2,500 euros per kilogram, while processed cannabis in "chocolate" form was sold for 5,000 euros per kilogram.

Roles in the organization:

The 55-year-old foreigner was the ringleader, responsible for finding, storing the drugs and managing the profits.

The 30-year-old foreigner was the deputy chairman, co-responsible for the storage of narcotics.

The 22-year-old Greek was responsible for storing and delivering the drugs to the carrier.

The 30-year-old Greek was responsible for the transportation and trafficking.

During the checks, among other things, about 1.9 kg of processed cannabis, over 15.1 kg of raw cannabis, a vehicle, a two-wheeler, a bulletproof vest, electronic scales, mobile phones and packaging equipment were seized.

Authorities estimate that the organization's illegal profits exceed 95,000 euros. Two of those arrested, a 55-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, have criminal records for similar offenses.

The arrested were taken to the relevant prosecutor's office and then before the investigators./ CNA
