US Defense Secretary: Iran's Supreme Leader may be injured and disfigured

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has stated that Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, may be injured and possibly disfigured.

Hegseth made the comments referring to a written statement by Mojtaba Khamenei, which was read on Iranian state television, without being accompanied by any footage or audio recording of him.

"I think you know why," the US Secretary of Defense said, raising doubts about the Iranian leader's lack of public appearances.

According to Hegseth, Khamenei is scared and wounded, while claiming that he is on the run and lacks legitimacy.

However, so far there is no independent evidence confirming the claims made by the US official about the Iranian leader's health condition./ CNA
