EU summit ends without agreement on key posts

European Union leaders on Monday ended a discussion on who should take the bloc's top posts for the next five years, but there was no agreement.

A decision is expected to be made next week.

The meeting of the leaders was the first since the European Parliament elections, reports " Reuters". 

Over dinner in Brussels, the EU's 27 national leaders discussed who should lead the powerful executive body of the European Commission, who should chair their European Council meetings and who should take the post of foreign policy chief.

Ursula von der Leyen was expected to be appointed for a second term as head of the European Commission, former Portuguese prime minister Antonio Costa as president of the Council and Estonian prime minister Kaja Kallas as chief diplomat./ CNA
