Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones/ Two dead and 19 injured

Russia launched a new massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine today, killing two people and wounding 19 others, according to Ukrainian officials.

In the capital Kiev, 11 people were injured in an attack using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said civilian infrastructure was hit before the airstrike alert was activated, and rescue teams were working in the affected areas.

Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down most of the air targets, but not the ballistic missiles. He called on Ukraine's allies to accelerate the delivery of air defense systems and ammunition promised during the last NATO summit.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian forces had taken control of the town of Bakhivsk in Ukraine's Sumy region. However, Reuters said it was unable to independently verify this claim on the ground.

Fighting continues with intensity, as Ukraine awaits further military support to bolster its air defenses in the face of continued Russian attacks. /CNA
