Romania, another drone violates the airspace

Romania sent four warplanes on patrol on the morning of October 19 after an unidentified object violated its airspace in the country's southeast, near the Black Sea, the Romanian Defense Ministry said.

According to the Ministry, radars spotted a small object flying – likely a drone – towards Tulkea before losing signal at around 2.30am on Saturday.

This is the second drone that violates Romania's national airspace, according to her. The military raised two F-16 fighter jets and two Spanish F-18 jets to monitor the object, the Ministry said, adding that the pilots did not see the drone.

The previous incident was reported on October 17, when a small flying object was spotted by army radars over Count Konstanta in the southeast.

Romania's Prime Minister, Marcel Ciolacu, said on October 18 that his country is analyzing the possibility of a "cyber challenge, because the pilots did not have visual contact with the drone".

In the past, Russian drones have entered Romanian airspace during Russian strikes against Ukrainian targets along the Black Sea and Danube River.
