Heavy rains / Several road axes in Kosovo are flooded, traffic is temporarily

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced that there are problems on some roads in Kosovo due to rainfall. Meanwhile, the Emergency Management Agency provided further details about the roads that have been flooded after the rainfall.

A segment of the Ferizaj-Pristina national road was closed to vehicle traffic on January 10 for a certain time due to high water on the road, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Kosovo Police said.

Kosovo Police said that the segment passing through the village of Llapnasella, the segment from the "Prishtina Mall" district towards Pristina and the segment from the "Marigona" district towards Ferizaj, has been completely closed to vehicle traffic, "for a certain time."

"This action has been taken as a necessary measure for the protection and safety of citizens and the prevention of traffic risks ," the Kosovo Police said in a statement.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, this segment will be opened to traffic during the day.

She indicated that even in the underpass in Mazgit, towards the highway, there is water accumulation "as a result of the blockage of the atmospheric channel", adding that work is being done to unblock the road.

The Ministry of Infrastructure said that there is a landslide on the "Ibrahim Rugova" highway.

In Sllatina, on the Fushë Kosovë - Gjurgjica road, according to the report, there is also water accumulation on the road.

"On the Zhur–Dragash road, there is movement of the road body. The relevant signaling has been installed and currently the traffic is taking place in one lane ," the announcement said.

The ministry asked citizens to avoid these roads until the problems are fully resolved.
The Emergency Management Agency said the situation is stable and manageable.

This institution reported flooding on two roads in Pristina, in the village of Smallush in Lipani, and flooding on the Shtime-Reçak road in Graçanië near a shopping center.

In Mitrovica, a family has been evacuated, while there have been interventions in other parts of Kosovo as a result of the accumulation of water.

On the morning of January 10, Kosovo faced rainfall, while the Meteorological Institute of Kosovo predicted that later in the day, with the drop in temperatures, there would also be snowfall.

In recent days, due to heavy rainfall, several areas in Kosovo faced flooding that caused damage to private properties and road infrastructure.

Also, due to the floods, some areas have had problems with electricity and drinking water supply, while the Ministry of Education has decided to postpone the resumption of the school year after the winter break to January 12. /REL
