Kryeministri i Britanisë së Madhe, Keir Starmer ka zhvilluar një bisedë telefonike më presidentin e Turqisë, Recep Tayip Erdogan.
Telefonata e dy liderëve vjen pasi mbrojtja ajrore e NATO-s shkatërroi një raketë balistike iraniane që ishte drejtuar në hapësirën ajrore të Turqisë në fillim të kësaj jave.
Sipas zëdhënësit të kryeministrit britanik, Starmer ka dënuar incidentin ndërsa udhëheqësit ranë dakord se ishte jetike që Irani të ndërpriste agresionin e tij.
“Kryeministri informoi mbi kapacitetin e shtuar të Mbretërisë së Bashkuar që ishte vendosur për të forcuar më tej mbrojtjen dhe stabilizimin rajonal. Udhëheqësit diskutuan gjithashtu thellimin e bashkëpunimit në mbrojtje dhe siguri midis Mbretërisë së Bashkuar dhe Turqisë në dritën e rritjes së paqëndrueshmërisë rajonale. Të dy ranë dakord që ekipet e tyre duhet të vazhdojnë punën drejt një marrëveshjeje të re dypalëshe për mbrojtjen dhe sigurinë përpara samitit të NATO-s në Turqi në korrik”, u shpreh zëdhënësi. /CNA
