Kosovo government approves proposal to send troops to Gaza

The Kosovo government has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Defense to send Kosovo Security Force troops to Gaza. Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated at the cabinet meeting that they are ready to help the people of Gaza.

"We are ready to participate and help the people of Gaza, because we ourselves have been and are beneficiaries of international forces since 1999 ," Kurti said.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci said that now the final decision on this issue will be made by the Kosovo Assembly.

"The Ministry of Defense, based on the objectives and strategic plans for cooperation with allied countries, the invitation received from the US Central Command on 10.12.2025, which refers to UN Security Council Resolution 2803, the political will expressed in the Peace Board, as well as the laws for sending the KSF abroad, has initiated procedures to request from the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo to make a decision to send the KSF abroad ," said Makedonci.

The Minister also stated that this decision strengthens Kosovo's international profile and places it among the countries that contribute to maintaining peace in the world.

"This decision further strengthens the international profile of our state, affirms the professionalism of the KSF and places our republic among the states that not only benefit from international security, but also continuously contribute to maintaining international peace and order ," he said.

The deployment of KSF troops comes within the framework of the mechanism created as part of the initiative called the Peace Board, proposed by US President Donald Trump. Albania is also part of the Peace Board. /CNA
