25th Book Fair in Pristina/ Kurti: A tool for an open society and spiritual

This weekend, the Pristina Book Fair is being held, in its 25th year.

This fair coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Martin Camaj, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Faik Konica, the 200th anniversary of the birth of Pashko Vasa and the 400th anniversary of the birth of Pjetër Bogdani.

Through a post on social media, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti shared footage from his visit to the fair, saying that it reimagines Albanian literary creativity and the earliest and most beautiful human experiences: the relationship with books.

Kurti writes that the number of new titles is around 2,000, while the number of titles from recent years is around 6,000, and this year they come from around 100 publishers from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia and the diaspora.

"With the motto "Intelligence flows from the book", the fair reminds us that the creativity and power of thought articulated in the pages of a book touches new horizons and depths of feeling and sensitivity, knowledge and awareness that artificial intelligence can only covet."

Books are the main tool of an open society, for an open mind. Because books bring spiritual and mental freedom.

There are many titles, from our Rilindas to the latest and most current publications, I wish and invite as many young men and women as possible to browse and use them. There is time today and tomorrow, too," Kurti writes. /CNA
