The Peace March begins in memory of the victims of Srebrenica

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the annual Peace March started on Friday, in memory of the victims of the Srebrenica massacre.

Over the next three days, participants will retrace the path that thousands of Srebrenica citizens took in the summer of 1995 in an attempt to escape from Serbian forces.

After a journey of about 110 kilometers, which started from the village of Nezuk, they will reach the Potoçari Memorial Center, where the 27th anniversary of the massacre will be marked on July 11.

On that day, the remains of 50 victims of the massacre, recently found, will be reburied.

Më 11 korrik të vitit 1995, forcat serbe të Bosnjës kanë hyrë në Srebrenicë, në zonën që ishte shpallur e sigurt nga Kombet e Bashkuara.

Në ditët që kanë pasuar, ato kanë vrarë mbi 8,000 burra dhe djem myslimanë, ndërsa trupat e tyre i kanë hedhur në gropa në pyjet përreth.

Vrasjet kanë ndodhur për pak ditë, por procesi i gjetjes së trupave ka marrë vite dhe identifikimi dhe varrimi i eshtrave vazhdojnë ende.

Masakra e Srebrenicës, e cila ka ndodhur pesë muaj para përfundimit të luftës në Bosnje, është cilësuar si më e rënda në Europë që prej përfundimit të Luftës së Dytë Botërore, ndërsa nga Gjykata Ndërkombëtare e Hagës është njohur si gjenocid.

Deri më tani, 47 persona janë dënuar me më shumë se 700 vjet burgim për rolet e tyre në masakër.
