New York Times: Trump plans meeting with Zelensky and Putin next week

The prestigious American newspaper The New York Times, citing diplomatic sources, reported today that US President Donald Trump plans to hold separate meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky starting next week.

The back-to-back meetings are aimed at accelerating efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

The meeting is expected at a key moment, when international diplomacy has intensified in an effort to find a lasting solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, while the White House has also signaled the possible imposition of new sanctions against Russia.

Earlier in the week, Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, held a meeting described as "extremely productive" with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.

Following this meeting, Trump had a phone conversation with Zelensky and then briefed European allies on the latest developments.
