Five soldiers at Fort Stewart were shot today in a shooting incident at the US Army base in southeast Georgia, USA.
The soldiers were reportedly treated on site and transferred to Winn Army Community Hospital for further treatment.
The military says law enforcement was dispatched to the area of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team and that the shooter was captured.
The military says there is no active threat to the community.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said President Donald Trump was briefed on the incident.
"The White House is monitoring the situation. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said his office remains in close contact with law enforcement on the ground. We are keeping the victims, their families, and all those who responded to the call to serve in our hearts and prayers, and we ask people everywhere to do the same," she wrote on X.
Separately, the FBI's Savannah office in Atlanta said it is aware of the incident and is coordinating with the Army Criminal Investigation Division for any assistance that may be needed. /CNA
