Plan to occupy Gaza/Trump: We leave it up to Israel

US President Donald Trump has refused to comment on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements that a decision on the full occupation of Gaza will be made soon.

Asked by American media about the issue, Trump said his administration is currently focused on increasing access to food in the Palestinian enclave under siege and attack by the US's closest ally in the Middle East.

"As for the rest, I can't say for sure. It mostly depends on Israel," the president said.

Israeli media previously reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the entire Gaza Strip to be occupied by his army during a meeting with top security officials, but this decision has met with resistance from part of the government cabinet who have cast doubt on the implementation of this plan and others have refused to approve it because any decision would cause the loss of lives of Israeli hostages held by Hamas./ CNA
