Portugalia po përjeton një valë të re të nxehti, me temperatura që mund të arrijnë deri në 41?C. Muaji gusht mund të jetë edhe më i nxehti në 15-20 vitet e fundit.

Temperaturat minimale variojnë nga 16?C në Sines dhe Leiria deri në 24?C në Portalegre, ndërsa temperaturat maksimale variojnë nga 28?C në Aveiro deri në 41?C Braga dhe Évora.

Rajonet veriore të Portugalisë kontinentale, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real dhe Bragança, janë sërish subjekt i një alarmi të kuq të temperaturave.

Sipas Institutit Meteorologjik Portugez (IPMA), alarmi i kuq, më i larti në shkallën tre, është për shkak të qëndrueshmërisë së temperaturave jashtëzakonisht të larta maksimale, përveçse në bregdet.
