Academic Minir Dushi passes away / Kurti remembers his last meeting with him

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has conveyed the bitter news of the passing of academician Minir Dushi at the age of 95.

Kurti recalled his last meeting with him when he hosted him in Pristina to celebrate Bujan's conference.

Through his memories of him, Kurti expressed his condolences to the Dushi family in Pristina and Gjakova, his colleagues at ASHAK, his collaborators and friends.

Academician Minir Dushi will be remembered for his valuable scientific works and for his useful works for the society and economy of Kosovo over the years.

“Memories came back to me from my last meeting with Academician Minir Dushi, when I learned that he had died at the age of 95. In December 2023, he had hosted us at his home in Pristina, to commemorate the Bujan Conference on its 80th anniversary. Although in his advanced age, he was still able to hold a conversation and recall events that occurred decades ago.

Minir Dushi was born in 1929 in Gjakova and attended all levels of university studies in the field of mining, earning his doctorate in 1965. Since the establishment of the University of Prishtina (1970), he was elected full professor and its first vice-rector. He served for two terms as dean of the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy, and in the years 1981-83, he was rector of the University of Prishtina, a period for which he wrote a monograph.

Since the establishment of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1975, Professor Dushi has been its corresponding member, and since 1978 a regular member. Academician Minir Dushi is the author of over 180 bibliographic units, of which 18 are scientific books. He was a veteran of World War II and a veteran of education in Kosovo.

Through the evocation of these memories of him, I express my most sincere condolences on the death of Academician Minir Dushi, the Dushi family in Pristina and Gjakova, his colleagues at ASHAK, his collaborators and friends.
