Kiev says that Russia has returned the bodies of 563 soldiers

Ukraine said it has received the bodies of 563 soldiers from Russian authorities, mostly those who died in fighting in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region.

The exchange of bodies of prisoners and slain military personnel remains one of the few areas of cooperation between Moscow and Kiev since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

According to the Ukrainian Center for the Coordination of the Treatment of Prisoners of War, 320 of the troops had been killed in Donetsk, 89 in Bakhmut and another 154 were in Russian morgues.

Also, the bodies of 37 killed Russian soldiers have returned to Russia.

International Committee of the Red Cross. The Security Service of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs and other security and defense institutions were involved in the exchange of the bodies of the slain soldiers.

Neither Russia nor Ukraine make public the figures of soldiers killed in combat./REL
