Israel says it has plans for at least three weeks of war

Israel said Monday it has detailed plans for at least three more weeks of war as its military bombed sites across Iran overnight, while Iranian drone attacks temporarily shut down Dubai's airport and hit a key oil facility in the United Arab Emirates.

The US-Israeli war against Iran is now entering its third week, with no clear end in sight, closing the Strait of Hormuz through which 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas flows, driving up oil prices and raising fears of a repeat spike in global inflation.

US President Donald Trump called on Sunday for a coalition of nations to help reopen the vital shipping lane and warned that the NATO alliance faces a "very bad" future if its members do not come to Washington's aid. His call prompted a cautious reaction from allies, who expressed support for diplomatic efforts to reopen the route but signaled caution about the possibility of military action.

Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani told reporters that it has detailed operational plans for war with Iran for the next three weeks, along with additional plans extending beyond that. The military has defined its goals as limited to weakening Iran's ability to threaten Israel by striking its ballistic missile infrastructure, nuclear facilities and security apparatus.

"We want to make sure that this regime is as weak as possible and that we degrade all of their capabilities, all parts and all arms of their security system," Shoshani said.

The military has said there are still thousands of targets to strike inside Iran.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran has not requested a ceasefire nor exchanged messages with the US, according to Iran's semi-official Student News Network./CNA, translated by Reuters
