"Ukraine's interest is ours too"/ Von Der Leyen responds to the

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that strong transatlantic cooperation is necessary for peace in Ukraine.

Von der Leyen said that if pressure on Russia is the only way then the EU will continue to increase it until Moscow has a real willingness to engage.

The EC President said that Ukraine's interests are also the interests of the European Union.

" In recent days and hours, we have seen steady and encouraging progress.

We welcomed the presence of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during our call.

We need strong transatlantic cooperation. Because it delivers results.

Take the significant impact of our coordinated and successive waves of sanctions against the Russian economy.

They are reducing the resources that Russia has to wage its war of aggression.

And since pressure remains the only language to which Russia responds, we will continue to increase it until there is a genuine willingness to engage in a credible path to peace.

While Europe and its partners are fully engaged in the search for a just and lasting peace, last night Russia escalated its attacks on Kiev, with missiles and drones that even violated the airspace of Moldova and Romania.

It is another reminder that Ukraine's security is Europe's security.

Ukraine's interests are our interests.

They are inseparable.

"This is why we will continue to stand firmly on Ukraine's side in the upcoming negotiations," Von der Leyen declared.
