US and Russia hold peace plan talks, Zelensky says 'there's still a

US and Russian officials have held talks on a peace plan aimed at ending Moscow's war with Ukraine, as Washington intensifies pressure on the sides to reach a deal to end Europe's largest and bloodiest conflict since World War II.

US Army Secretary Dan Briscoll met with the Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi on November 25, according to a military spokesman, in an attempt to narrow differences over a peace proposal that the Trump administration has drafted following talks between US and Ukrainian officials in Geneva.

Ukrainian officials went to Abu Dhabi for more talks with Briscoll and other US officials, CBS News and the Financial Times reported.

The talks come on the day Russia again attacked Kiev, killing at least six people and wounding at least 13 others during airstrikes.

On Monday evening, November 24th, and throughout Tuesday, Secretary Driscoll and his team discussed with the Russian delegation the prospects for a lasting peace in Ukraine. Talks are progressing well, and we remain optimistic. Secretary Driscoll is closely coordinating with the White House as these talks progress ,” said Driscoll’s spokesman, Jeff Tolbert.

The initial 28-point plan, proposed by the US, was seen by many as more favorable to Moscow.

Ukrainian officials traveled to Geneva over the weekend and met with US representatives, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in an attempt to craft a draft that would require fewer concessions from Ukraine and would not result in what some in Kiev viewed as capitulation.

During talks in Geneva, the draft was reduced to 19 points, with Ukrainian officials noting that some of the most sensitive issues – including security guarantees for Kiev – remain on the negotiating table.

"Last night, Russia launched another attack, at a time when Ukraine, together with America, Europe and many other countries around the world, is working practically 24 hours a day to stop the bloodshed. There is still a long way to go," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after meeting with British Prime Minister Starmer on November 25.
