Last suspect in Louvre robbery arrested/Still no trace of jewels

The fourth and final suspected perpetrator of the spectacular robbery that took place on October 19 at the Louvre Museum was arrested this morning in Paris.

The arrested man was taken into custody on charges of "theft by an organized gang" and "creation of a criminal group." According to information, he is suspected of collaborating with the three other defendants who have already been remanded in custody following criminal prosecutions.

Museum security camera footage captured four people participating in the heist of the world's most visited museum.

Using a crane, two of the suspected perpetrators forced their way into the Apollo Gallery and stole jewelry from the French royal collection, estimated to be worth 88 million euros. The other two accomplices stayed outside the museum to organize the group's escape.

The first arrests were made after DNA tests identified the two perpetrators who entered the bar, Ayed G. and Abdulai N., and later Slimane K., who is believed to have been driving one of the two motorcycles used in the operation, was also arrested.

Meanwhile, authorities are still searching for the valuable jewels, while investigations are ongoing to identify the mastermind of the robbery that shocked France and beyond. /CNA
