A Russian tycoon has died in Russia's Ural Mountains after the helicopter he was in became entangled in power lines. The helicopter, flying at a relatively low altitude, became entangled in the wires and then crashed into the snow in Asatly Park.

The two passengers of the helicopter, one of whom was Russian tycoon Ilyas Gimandutdinov, founder of the Perm-based transport company Tattranskom, and Elmir Koniakov, head of the same company, died at the scene.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the helicopter crash. Initial indications suggest it may have become entangled in power lines before the crash, although EMERCOM has not publicly confirmed this detail. /CNA
