Suspicious package found/Passengers evacuated at London airport

A terminal at London's Heathrow Airport has been evacuated due to a suspicious package, leaving thousands of holidaymakers in a panic. Passengers flocked to Terminal 3 at Britain's busiest airport after reports of a suspicious item in the building during peak travel times.

The Metropolitan Police said they were at the scene and dealing with the situation.

"It is a suspicious package and we are at the scene and dealing with it," the police confirmed to the British media outlet 'The Sun'. 

Countless people were seen on social media reporting that they had been evacuated from the building due to the alarm. However, police have now confirmed that it was a false alarm.

Heathrow Express rail services to the airport appear to have been affected by the emergency, with the operator posting on social media that there were delays to some of its services.

It is not yet clear whether flights will be delayed as a result of the evacuation./CNA
