Dubai, like Venice, is flooded by torrential rains

A heavy storm with torrential rain and hail has been recorded in most of the United Arab Emirates.

The storm is also hitting Dubai, turning it into a floating city, as images and videos circulating on social media show.

Several roads across the country have been closed due to flooding.

Drivers in Dubai are advised to avoid Al Asayel Road and First Al Khail Road, located at Business Bay towards Jebel Ali, and use alternative roads such as Al Khail Road and Sheikh Zayed Road.

In Ras Al Khaimah, emergency services have closed the road under the exit 129 bridge and the entrance to Al Kuwait market.

In Sharjah, the ring road to Kalbah has been closed.
