Four Israeli soldiers are injured by Hezbollah explosives, on the Israel-Lebanon

Lebanon's Shiite group Hezbollah said it planted several "explosive devices" as Israeli soldiers crossed the border with Lebanon, while Israel said four of its soldiers were wounded near the Lebanese border in an explosion.

It is the first time that Hezbollah, which has exchanged fire with Israel since the outbreak of war in Gaza more than six months ago, has launched such an operation.

"Our fighters planted explosive devices in the Tal Ismail area, close to the Israeli border, which exploded after Israeli soldiers crossed the border," Hezbollah said in a statement.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that 4 of its soldiers "who were in an area on the northern border" were injured overnight, one of them seriously, "after an explosion of unknown origin". The others have minor to moderate injuries, he said.

The Israeli army has not confirmed that its soldiers crossed the border into Lebanon.

Asked by AFP, the Israeli military declined to elaborate, limiting itself to stating that "an investigation is underway."

According to DPA, the Israeli army added that the other 3 soldiers suffered light to moderate injuries and noted that the cause of the overnight explosion was still being investigated./ CNA
