Russian reconnaissance aircraft are spotted over the Baltic Sea and Barents Sea

Three Russian military aircraft used for reconnaissance purposes have been spotted and escorted into international airspace over the Baltic Sea, the German air force announced on Wednesday.

German officials said the planes, which were flying without their radios on, had been dictated to by German and British planes.

On Tuesday, Norwegian authorities said their air force had identified a group of Russian military aircraft flying over the Barents Sea. The Norwegian Air Force said it involved two bombers, two aerial refueling planes and three fighter jets.

Meanwhile, the British Ministry of Defense announced today that fierce fighting continues in the city of Bakhmut in its western part.

In their tweet, British authorities said that Kiev is trying to maintain control of an important supply corridor, as other supply options for its forces in Bakhmut have run into difficulties due to the mud.

In another development related to Russian aggression, the former Mayor of the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, Yevgeny Roizman, appeared before a court on the charge of discrediting the Russian army, related to its attack in Ukraine.

Mr. Roizman is a popular opposition figure in the country. He is the last prominent critic of the Kremlin, who is still in Russia, but not in prison./ VOA
