"Zai Fundo, incomparable"/ Professor Ilir Kalemaj: He could have been

Professor Doctor Ilir Kalemaj spoke about the prominent intellectual, the man who signed the foundations of the EU, Llazar (Zai) Fundon.

On the show "Esence", Kalemaj stated that Zai Fundo was incomparable and one of the most important characters in terms of political activity.

Kalemaj mentioned the fact that he had collaborated with Bukhari, Dimitrov, Spinelli, and De Gasper.

The professor emphasized that in 1944 Zai Fundo had an offer to stay in Italy, where he could have become an MP, and could have become the first Albanian MEP, but he decided to return to Albania, where he met a tragic end, where he was killed, according to him, on the orders of former dictator Enver Hoxha.

"In terms of political activity, Zai Fundo was incomparable. His political activity made him one of the most important figures. He had been Bukharin's assistant in the Comintern.

He had been a close associate of Georgi Dimitrov at the head of the Comintern.

"He was friends with Spinelli and De Gasperini, he had an offer in '44 to stay in Italy and become an MP, he was going to become the first Albanian MEP, but he returned to Albania and had a tragic end when he joined the Kryezinji and was treacherously killed by the communist leadership on the orders of Enver Hoxha," said Kalemaj./ CNA
