The flow of tourists, who are visiting Albania this summer season, is growing day by day, exceeding even the expectations of this sector, where in recent years there have been significant investments, mainly from the private sector, as in coastal tourism, as well as the mountain one. This has encouraged central institutions, municipalities, but also non-governmental organizations to be involved in a large number of projects with the aim of promoting tourism.
Vau Dejës is one of the small municipalities in Albania, which through European Union funds is implementing the "Vau Dejës a tourist destination" project. The head of tourism in this municipality, Çuka Babani, says that in addition to the Shala River, this area has many potentials in the field of tourism, which in recent years have been discovered mainly by foreign visitors through social networks.
With this project, we managed to provide the tourist signage, which was missing in the Vau Dejës Municipality. 35 signs have been placed, which signal the tourist spots of the Vau Deja Municipality, but also the corresponding descriptions of these areas that are a touristic and cultural value, for which tourists have something to see in our municipality.
The European Union is supporting with funds a number of important projects in the field of tourism, one of which was the establishment of an information center for tourists on the beach of Shengjin, a beach that for years has been frequented mainly by vacationers from Kosovo.
Support for Albania is a priority for the European Union. Our project in the field of tourism is supporting municipalities, which are very important for the development of the country on the path of European integration. The project has supported 19 municipalities of the country with grants, says the program manager for regional and local governance in the EU delegation in Albania, Mrs. Marie Augouy.
The growing flow of tourists, the involvement of a large number of institutions and organizations in the promotion and promotion of tourism, according to the adviser at the Ministry of Culture, Arlinda Kondi, is something positive, but it is important that there is no overlap of projects that consume energy and unnecessary funds.
In reality, there are many initiatives and many projects that are being implemented at the municipal level, at the level of public institutions, and it is very important that we have a comprehensive overview and framework of all the interventions that have been made in recent years mainly and understand what it should not overlap and what are the spaces where we can intervene.
The Ministry of Culture itself, according to Mrs. Kondi, is a partner in 11 projects in the field of tourism and, in another, is the project leader. She says that it is important to establish a balance between what is offered to tourists and the need to preserve cultural heritage values ??from damage.
According to official data, in the first 6 months of this year, Albania received 33% more foreign visitors compared to the same period a year ago. But expectations are even higher for the coming months./ VOA
