TXEX continues to be active, members are threatened with losing money if they

Following media reports, the National Cyber ??Security Authority (AKSK), with a public announcement, has warned of the identification of a case of online fraud through a platform called TXEX. According to AKSK, this platform, presented as an application for investing in cryptocurrency, is not registered and is not licensed in the Republic of Albania and as such operates outside any national legal framework.

From the observations of AKSK and from the numerous denunciations made public, it is concluded that its activity bears the clear features of a fraudulent digital scheme. Subsequently, the State Police, through the Cyber ??Crime Investigation Directorate and the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Directorate, announced that it has launched a criminal investigation into a suspected pyramid investment scheme, through online platforms, and is continuing intensive work on legal documentation.

Despite warnings from Albanian institutions, information from participants on this platform shows that it continues to be active in trading and posting information to the investor group on the Telegram application.

Following a previous message, where participants were asked to deposit $400 to "verify proper account use," users have received messages where the platform representative assures them that they will be able to withdraw their funds from the account.

Moreover, another message warns that any member of the platform who “distorts the terms of use or distributes false or negative information will be considered a fraudster and will be excluded from the platform…being considered responsible for the consequences and possible losses from this exclusion.” This message seems to constitute a form of pressure not to release public information and further doubts about a platform that state authorities consider fraudulent.

The Financial Supervisory Authority (AMF) has not yet issued a public communication about TXEX, but in the past it has advised investors several times not to invest in unlicensed platforms in our country, warning them that any investment in these platforms could result in the irretrievable loss of all invested money.

TXEX is an online investment platform, mainly in cryptocurrencies, that has the characteristics of a clear pyramid scheme. Individuals are lured into investing in it via messaging platforms, such as Telegram, Signal, etc.. Furthermore, users are encouraged to attract other users to the platform, offering them bonuses. From time to time, investors are allowed to make withdrawals (usually in small amounts), to gain their trust and keep the scheme afloat.

Since April of this year, the New Zealand Financial Markets Authority has designated this platform as fraudulent and has warned the public of this country to avoid investing in it or platforms of this type.

Scammers often impersonate banks, investment firms, and other financial service providers to convince their victim to join a chat group for investment advice. In this chat group, victims are encouraged to recruit friends and family members and make payments to fraudulent investment platforms.

Also, online forums have been describing this platform as clearly fraudulent for months./ Monitor
