IPH specialists: Flu circulation has begun, peak expected in January 2026

Specialists at the Institute of Public Health have announced that the flu has begun circulating in Albania. The curve of infections with all respiratory viruses is following an upward trajectory.

Experts have stated that the peak is expected to be reached in January 2026.

Specialist Artan Simaku emphasized that a doctor should be contacted directly as soon as the first signs are seen to prevent severe forms.

"Everyone is at risk of contracting the flu, Covid or any respiratory virus, so specialists require immediate contact with a doctor at the first sign, this way we will prevent severe forms but also break the chain of infections," said Simaku.

He also emphasized that vaccination protects the most at-risk age groups such as children and the elderly.

"As part of preventive measures, IHP specialists recommend vaccination, especially for risk groups such as children under 5 years old, the elderly, pregnant women or the chronically ill," he stated./ CNA
