Today at 11:00 a.m. the next protest is expected to start in front of the Municipality of Tirana, where the citizens will demand the resignation of Erion Veliaj, after the scandals and corrupt affairs that happened in this institution. 

This is the 13th protest, where hundreds of citizens of Tirana, representatives of the Alliance for the Protection of the Theater and the opposition are expected to gather in front of this institution. 

Citizens have warned that they will not stop until Veliaj leaves, while the police, on the other hand, have announced that they have started taking measures.

The protests started after the scandal that gripped the municipality, where most of the directors ended up in prison due to abuses with tenders, but also for the affair in Tirana's incinerator.

A few weeks ago, SPAK interrogated Veliaj regarding the Tirana incinerator affair, whose investigations are nearing completion.

Measures taken by the police for the protest: 

The State Police announces that there will be a temporary traffic jam on the main boulevard near the Municipality of Tirana.

The police call on drivers to follow alternative routes until the end of the rally, such as the Middle Ring and the Great Ring.

In the meantime, organizers, leaders and participants in gatherings are called upon to respect the law and distance themselves from any act of violence. /CNA
