The mayor of Rrogozhina, Edison Memolla, participated today in the court session that is taking place in the Special Court. This is because in November 2023, he was officially taken as a defendant by SPAK.

'I was to give my testimony regarding the process against me. I have always been ready and I hope that justice will reveal the truth about the charges and declare me innocent', Edison Memolla told the media.

As he was asked by journalists if there is an investigation into his wealth, he said "they can do whatever they want".

The socialist mayor is accused of the criminal offense "Active corruption in elections" committed in collaboration.

From SPAK's investigations, it has been established and proven that Memolla, in the partial local elections of March 6, 2022, influenced the electrician Blerim Xhamani not to cut off the electricity of a debtor subscriber, in order to vote in his favor, as well as communicated with him about employment in the Rrogozhin Municipality, in exchange for a vote.

In addition, the citizens Ndriçim Tafxhafa, Blerim Xhamani and Isuf Tosku were taken as defendants./ CNA
