For several weeks now, various areas in the north and south of the country have been engulfed by fires.

After the request made by the Albanian authorities, and coordination with the European Civil Emergencies Center in Brussels, the European Civil Protection Mechanism has activated assistance for several European countries, among which is Albania.

During a press conference, the spokesperson of the European Commission, Balazs Ujvari, said that this aid contingent for extinguishing fires includes two planes from Italy, two helicopters from France and Serbia and firefighters from the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Romania and Serbia, who are committed to extinguishing fires in Greece.

This Wednesday, a multifunctional military aircraft from Romania, with a capacity of 6 tons of water, is expected to arrive in Albania.

Similarly, the spokesperson Balazs Ujvari said that the Commission's Emergency Response Coordination Center (ERCC) has immediately mobilized the air and ground resources of firefighters from several European countries that are part of the Civil Protection Mechanism to help Greece as well, where the situation with the fires is presented at alarming levels./ CNA
