The prestigious British media, "The Sun", has written an article about the creation of the Sovereign State of the Bektashi Order in Tirana.
" The Sun " reports that the state will be located on an area of ??10 hectares and the emphasis will be on tolerance.
"Plans to create a tiny country, the size of just 14 football pitches, aim to promote a version of Islam that is 'tolerant' of clothing and alcohol.
Called the "Sovereign State of the Bektashi Order", it would become the smallest in the world if realized", writes "The Sun".
Similar examples such as Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein and the Vatican are also presented in the article.
The British media states that these countries have administrative documents that characterize the largest countries in the world, such as borders and passports.
But he points out that "they often rely on other countries for survival, given that they only have a small army and a lack of their own resources".

Albania is preparing an important transformation for the Bektashi Muslim community, known as the Bektashi Order, which is headquartered in the country's capital, Tirana. It plans to turn the small area into its own sovereign state smaller than the Vatican state and with an emphasis on tolerance. This means allowing alcoholic beverages, allowing everyone to wear what they want and rejecting lifestyle rules in a remarkably progressive move compared to some other Islamic states.

The small area of ??10 hectares would have all the hallmarks of a separate country: its administration, passport and borders. About half of Albanians identify as Muslim, with about 10% of its citizens of the Bektashi variety. Bektashis are known as a tolerant version of Islam, where drinking alcohol is allowed in moderation and men and women have more equality. The creation of the Bektash state has been requested by the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and has found support from the religious leader Baba Mondi.
The latter, who can preside over the micro-state in the same way as the Pope in the Vatican, called this action an "extraordinary initiative". He added: “For our followers, this is not about political power or land acquisition; it is about strengthening the mission of the Bektashi Order for spiritual moderation and the protection of our religious practices.

Albania has historically been a beacon of religious coexistence and this step is a testament to the future nature of the Albanian government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who recognized the importance of giving space to continue promoting peace. For our community around the world, it is a moment of pride and renewal, strengthening our identity and presence on the global stage.”
A statement from the Bektashi Order said: "The Bektashi Order, which is known for its message of peace, tolerance and religious harmony, will gain Vatican-like sovereignty, allowing us to govern religiously and administratively autonomously." .
Speaking at the United Nations, Rama said on Sunday that this would strengthen Albania's reputation as a tolerant nation. He noted that Albania rescued Jewish refugees from the horrors of the Nazis in World War II and recently helped innocent Afghans escape the Taliban monsters. Rama said that the country's proud history – including the gift of Mother Teresa to the world – served as inspiration for a separate Bektashi state.

He said: “She told us that not all of us can do big things, but we can all do small things with great love. This is our inspiration to support the transformation of the Bektashian World Order into a sovereign state in our capital, Tirana, as a new center of moderation, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
How micro-states work
Micro-states are classified as sovereign states – meaning they are self-governing – despite claiming only a small amount of land or population – or both. Such are Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein and of course, the Vatican State. Despite being small, they have the same administrative documents that characterize the world's largest countries - such as borders and passports. But they often rely on other countries for survival, as they only have a small army and lack of resources of their own.

The 10 smallest countries in the world
Vatican City currently holds the title as the smallest country in the world. AI is 39 million times smaller than the world's largest, Russia. The rich Monaco is also included among the micro-states. Here are the 10 smallest:
1. Vatican City – 0.17 square miles
2. Monaco – 0.8 square miles
3. Nauru – 8 square miles
4. Tuvalu – 10 square miles
5. San Marino – 24 square miles
6. Liechtenstein – 62 square miles
7. Marshall Islands – 70 square miles
8. Saint Kitts and Nevis – 102 square miles
9. Maldives – 114 square miles
10. Malta – 122 square miles./ CNA
