KPA upholds the confirmation of prosecutor Saimir Hysa

The Special Board of Appeal, KPA announced on Wednesday, September 25, the decision to uphold the confirmation of the prosecutor of Tirana, Saimir Hysa. Prosecutor Hysa was confirmed in office by the Independent Qualification Commission, KPK on August 10 of last year. Two cases verified by him were sent for assessment to the High Inspector of Justice.

Meanwhile, the International Monitoring Operation, ONM recommended the appeal of the Commission's decision-making, suggesting that some of the findings in the professional and wealth criteria should be verified by the KPA. Based on this recommendation, Commissioner Ballhysa filed an appeal, requesting at the end during the final conclusions on Monday, the consideration of the findings in the criteria of wealth and professionalism in the overall assessment of the case, as well as the dismissal of this reassessment subject.

Prosecutor Hysa objected to the reasons for the appeal as unfounded, stressing that his wealth is proven, as well as that his figure is confirmed by all the relevant institutions. He insisted that he had performed his duty properly and observed that the decision of the Commission could not be affected by several letters sent to the vetting institutions, as well as asked for the confirmation to be put into effect.

The presiding judge of the College, Rezarta Schuetz, read the summary decision for Hysa on Wednesday. She observed that some of the Commissioner's claims regarding the professional criterion were not true. However, it was evident that for a non-start decision, the entity failed to make the appropriate verifications before reaching the final conclusion, despite the ambiguities that the report may have had.
