The EU delegation in Tirana has responded to the media's interest in Prime Minister Edi Rama's proposal for the creation of the Sovereign State of the Bektashi Order.
The European Union refuses to comment on this proposal, stating that it has no competence to regulate religious issues.
The EU office states that the EU supports interfaith tolerance and dialogue.
"We have no comments at this stage. Freedom of thought, conscience and religion is enshrined in Article 10 of the EU Charter, for fundamental rights. In general, the EU supports tolerance and interreligious dialogue. The EU has not competence to regulate religious issues", the reaction says./ CNA
