Preparations begin for the expansion of the Tirana-Durres highway, ARRSH:

Preparations have begun for the expansion of the Tirana-Durres highway from the Kamza bend to the Kashari junction.

"The preparatory phase means picketing, mobilizing the site, with the identification of underground infrastructure problems. These days, the anticipated interventions are expected to start with intensity", says Gëzim Noni, responsible for Contract Management at ARRSH.

The widening of the road with two lanes on each side does not affect any private residence, but only 2-3 businesses. "The expansion consists in the opening of a full lane of 3.75 m and the emergency lane of 3 m, so in total we will have three entrance and exit lanes plus emergencies", says Noni.

"During the summer off-season, 90-100 thousand vehicles pass on this highway in 24 hours. To avoid heavy traffic, ARRSH says that the existing lanes will not be blocked", adds journalist Halili.

"The existing lanes will be free, only the speed will be limited. We ask for the understanding of road users", says Noni.

The total cost for widening the road for a period of up to 24 months is 34 million euros. There will also be interference on the existing road. At the end of the works, the permitted speed will be up to 130 km per hour./ CNA
