The American Senate has not approved the appointment of David Kostelancik as the ambassador of the United States of America to Albania.

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, approved Kostelancik's candidacy in January 2023.

But, on the website of the American Congress, it is said that on January 3 of this year, the proposal was returned to the President.

The Senate has asked the US President, Joe Biden, to approve a new candidate for the post of US ambassador to Albania.

David J. Kostelancik is a diplomat of the Senior Foreign Service of the United States of America, with the rank of Minister Counselor.

He began serving as a foreign policy advisor to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, in August 2021.

Previously, he was Deputy Chief of Mission, and for two years, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.

David Kostelancik has been appointed to the US State Department as Director of the Office for South-Central European Affairs. He has served as Director of the Office of Russian Affairs, in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

He was also the Director of the Office of Europe and Asia at the International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

He has served twice at the US embassy in Moscow, while he is very well versed in Albanian, Russian and Turkish./ CNA
