Next hearing on the merits of the "Veliaj" file/ Elman Abule and Ajola Xoxa's lawyer appear at the GJKKO

Erion Veliaj's friend, Elman Abule, and Ajola Xoxa's lawyer, Maks Haxhia, have appeared at the GJKKO.

The next hearing on the merits for Mayor Erion Veliaj and 29 other defendants will take place today.

For months, the arrested mayor of Tirana has continued to postpone court hearings because he is afraid of facing justice, facts, and evidence.

Over 60,000 pages have been submitted that substantiate the 13 charges brought against Veliaj for corruption, abuse of office, laundering the proceeds of crime, concealing assets, and bringing prohibited items into the cell.

Since his arrest in February 2025, Veliaj has waged a media attack campaign against prosecutors and judges, paying lobbyists and studios to falsify reports submitted to the US Department of Justice.

The next session on the merits is being held today and it remains to be seen how it will end./ CNA
