Former prosecutor Eugen Beçi shared a tough stance regarding legal responsibilities for the fire that engulfed a residential complex in the capital this afternoon.

Speaking on the "Now" show, Beçi said that the prosecution should not show any tolerance during the investigation of the case.

According to Beçi, a key issue that should be included in the investigations is the granting of construction permits for projects that limit emergency exits and safety elements.

"The legal responsibilities are very great in this case. I think and hope that the Prosecutor's Office of General Jurisdiction in Tirana will not tolerate this case, that it will conduct a full investigation into the way in which building use permits are granted and the way in which contracts are respected in the Republic of Albania. Permits were granted by completely limiting emergency exits, safety distances, emergency elements as in this specific case and by connecting the buildings to each other, making it impossible for a person to pass through, let alone a fire engine," said Beçi. /CNA
