Increase in oil and food prices/ Alimehmeti: Market norms are not being followed

The Head of the Health Department in the Democratic Party, Ilir Alimehmeti, spoke today about the increase in the price of oil. In an interview with Syri TV, Alimehmeti said that even before the start of the war, Albania had the most expensive oil in all of Europe.

According to him, the increase in oil prices does not follow market norms because, according to him, it follows the norms of "the interests of a handful of people." The same, according to him, happens with food prices.

"In this situation where we are, the war certainly causes a situation, a confusion of things, but this is not enough as a justification for the government to increase prices. Let's start with oil and then all the other prices. Because I remember that we didn't go here by chance, we went because we have, we have always had oil, the most expensive oil in all of Europe. I remember that every time the currency increased, because we buy it in foreign currency, we don't buy lek, then I find the justification to increase oil, but now even when the euro has been at historical records for so many years because of the dirty euros that enter Albania due to drug trafficking, oil never decreased, but increased, continued and increased.

So it does not follow the market norms because it follows the norms of the interests of a handful of people, who are ultimately led by Edi Rama because he has this whole discussion in his hands. The same goes for food. If we did not remember all those fires that happened last year, because they destroyed agriculture, livestock and property. On the other hand, we did not even pay attention to the floods that caused livestock, agriculture and property and so on, and then we are surprised and put everything on the war. It is a deliberate and continuous negligence of the government, of Edi Rama and the relevant ministries in these types of directions. Because if you do not have continuous subsidies in agriculture, you cannot blame the war alone for why the price of vegetables, fruits, meat or any other product has increased today , "said Alimehmeti. /CNA
