Albanian students' protest in RMV/ Hoxha: The issue must be addressed with

Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha has reacted to the protest of Albanian students in North Macedonia over taking the Jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language.

The Minister, through the "X" platform, emphasized that the use of the mother tongue is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution of North Macedonia and the Law on the Use of Languages, which cannot and should not be restricted or delayed by any procedure.

According to the minister, this is an issue that requires a measured and responsible approach, far from any attempt at politicization.

"I have followed with the greatest attention the expressed concern and the fair and legitimate request of Albanian students in North Macedonia to take the exam in the Albanian language.

The use of the mother tongue is a fundamental right, guaranteed by the Constitution of North Macedonia and the Law on the Use of Languages, which cannot and should not be restricted or delayed by any procedure. If the procedures prove to be deficient or unclear, it is an institutional obligation to find fair and sustainable solutions.

This is an issue that requires a measured and responsible approach, far from any attempt at politicization. It must be addressed with institutional seriousness and in the spirit of respect for fundamental rights.

Democracies not only have the mechanisms, but also the necessary maturity to find solutions that harmonize the rule of law, legislation, and citizens' rights.

"The students deserve congratulations for their civic engagement and the democratic way in which they have articulated their demand. This requires a response with the same standard of accountability, through constructive dialogue and solutions that fully respect guaranteed rights," emphasizes Minister Hoxha./ CNA
