A day before the protest for the Albanian language / The Albanian Ambassador in

Albanian students will hold a protest tomorrow in Skopje against taking the jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language.

The issue of taking the jurisprudence exam in Albanian was raised after over 385 Albanian law students in the country submitted a petition to the Ministry of Justice in early February.

According to local media, his reasoning was that knowledge of the Macedonian language is a condition for becoming a judge, prosecutor, lawyer, notary or bailiff, while this condition is verified by taking the jurisprudence exam in Macedonian.

Meanwhile, a day before the protest, Albania's ambassador to North Macedonia, Denion Meidani, shared a message on social media.

The Albanian diplomat shared a quote by James Freeman Clarkem that says: "A politician thinks about the next election. A statesman thinks about the next generation."

The diplomat's post is seen as a reaction to the stance of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. The latter, after a petition signed by 380 students, initially declared that "students have the right", but only a day later changed his position, emphasizing that "the law does not allow such a thing". /CNA
