Report for 2024/ Dumani in the Assembly: The number of cases completed by SPAK

The Head of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure, Altin Dumani, presented today in the Parliament the activity report for 2024 of the institution he heads.

Dumani, in presenting the data, indicated that out of 2,791 detainees in Albania, only 270 of them are under investigation by SPAK, while as for prisoners, 165 people out of 1,722 in total have been sentenced following SPAK proceedings.

Further, the head of SPAK said that for 2024, the number of completed cases increased by 13%, with 41% of cases being sent to prosecutors of general jurisdiction while 29% were sent for trial.

 

" In relation to security measures, SPAK has applied a penal policy in accordance with international standards. Thus, for the type of security measures requests, it results that the number of SPAK detainees who are in the Institutions for the Execution of Criminal Decisions constitutes only 9.7% of the total of 2,791 detainees in Albania, 270 of whom are under investigation by SPAK. Meanwhile, the number of prisoners who have been sentenced to prison sentences by SPAK investigations constitutes only 9.5% of the total of 1,722 prisoners, 165 people have been sentenced after SPAK proceedings.

There are 79 final panel decisions. The Prison Directorate has requested that 26 convicts be placed in a special regime.
